This restaurant comes highly recommended on the above websites, so we had to check it out.
The building is a charming wooden structure with a terrace, all low tables, and tatami cushion seating. There are also picnic tables outside for seating.
The view truly is spectacular and spans Sesoko-jima, Minna-jima, Ie-jim, and the northern coast of Motobu. There is little point in going on an overcast day or at night, because you miss out of the best part of the experience.
As promised, the menu is: small pizza 1000Y, medium pizza 2000Y, salad 500Y, and some drinks. Everybody gets the same pizza and salad, which is what the chef feels like making that day. Ours had green capsicum, hot dog slices, and corn, with lots of white cheese. The salad was iceburg lettuce with slivered carrot, red capsicum, onion, and more corn, with a Japanese style dressing.
Our taste in pizza is probably not typical. We feel the flavor in pizza should come from a freshly baked crust, a thoughtfully prepared sauce, and an array of complementary toppings heavier on veg than meat, with only a small amount of cheese to tie it all together. In contrast, the pizza at Kazin-oh was piled thick with cheese, thus quite oily, and with few veggies to balance out the fat. We split a medium pizza and a salad and I couldn't eat for the rest of the day.
The coffee, while beautifully presented, was bitter, came with one mini-container of fake milk, and was too small to merit the 350Y price tag.
So, we don't plan on going back. But as an experience it was fun to make the drive, sit in the sunshine, and especially to watch the young and hip Japanese couples having a romantic midday rendevous.
