Location - Hamby town, on Hamby street, about half a block south of the San-A, on the west side of the road
We needed lunch in 15 minutes on a Monday. We went into Goocuru cafe for the first time, hoping for a quick cafe meal, but instead found a restaurant charging 3180Y for a multicourse macrobiotic lunch. (And 1200Y for smaller meals). Yikes. So we turned around and walked out.
Then we headed to the soba shack. There are two picnic tables in the hut, and an open kitchen. This is a one-man operation, and you watch the chef prepare your soba. He uses 4 pots - one for boiling the water for the noodles, which he also uses to warm your ceramic bowl. One for the stock, one for the pork, and another one we are not sure. His is a simple and tasty soba, with two pieces of quite tender marinate pork ribs, thin-sliced green onion, and a slice of fish cake. The broth was nice enough to finish off. And all for 500Y. There are a million places to eat decent soba, but this is one of the more entertaining.
