Another restaurant patronized almost exclusively by the gaijin community. It is a large and soulless izakaya, with fluorescent lighting and an open plan. Everyone speaks English. The menu is laminated, with colour photos, and seems to be 10 pages long. The options range from chili-cheese fries to enchiladas, udon soup to seafood salad, kimchee pork to buttered spinach to spicy tuna roll. All the American sensibilities seem to have rubbed off on the staff - when asked how long the wait would be, a receptionist said "I have no idea."
The food is set for the lowest common denominator, a Japanese-western fast-food mishmosh. It is easy to eat, but not great. Each dish can be found better elsewhere - Fenutin's seafood salad, Sushi Zen's rolls, TanTan's fried rice, etc. Most dishes are 400-1000Y, so a group can order up a lot of dishes, feel like they are having a huge feast, and not spend a fortune. Between 5-7p on weekdays, beer is 250Y, otherwise its the normal 470Y. Maybe everyone comes here because it is ideal for the large Western groups - there is something for everyone, you can make plenty of noise and not bother anyone, and your can seat 8 people without difficulty. Its just not enough to bring us back...
