Restaurants - Nago okonomiyaki

Location: in Nago city, on the 84 just west of the old tree and the canal
Hours: no idea. No English menu.
Downtown Nago is a strangely dead town. Even midday on a weekday, hardly anything is open. This shop looks like the first step in a cultural resurgence of Nago, and it was packed with patrons. The restaurant does typical Japanese food in a European setting. The shopfront is all windows, and the door is marked by two crossed metal spatulas - the tool they use to make your okonomiyaki. The decor is minimalist - green unadorned walls, wood trim, cute lampshades. They play jazz. The tables are a strange shiny red-black, with a central griddle.
From what we could tell, for 980Y per person (780Y for high school students) you get your choice of three different combinations of ingredients. We ended up with pork + kimchee and mochi+cheese. Not sure what the other one is. You can have the ingredients done up okonomiyaki (pancake) style, or stir-fried over rice, or maybe some other way. The waitstaff make the okonomiyaki for you (if you wish) topping them off with mayonnaise, brown sauce, bonito flakes, and green flecks. Drinks are all-you-can-drink serve-yourself. The okonomiyaki were tasty, although admittedly not my favorite subset of Japanese cuisine. And they are no better than the ones sold in Naha's market for 100Y each (but those don't come with such ambiance). But given the limited lunch options in Nago, this is not a bad one. If you aren't a fan of okonomiyaki, right across the street is a lady doing bento boxes and Japanese finger food.
