Tetera is a small cafe claiming to do Mexican food. It has a cheesy but charming interior decor: artificial flowers under the glass table tops, Mexican-style blankets, Corona bottles, and a wall hanging showing a "typical" Mexican senor and senorita and the statement "Creo que lo mejor del viaje fue haberte conocido" with "Made in India" written at the bottom.
We had the Mexican lunch (750Y). First course is a tomato and lettuce salad with two types of dressing, one creamy garlic and the other a sweet/sour concoction, both decent. Then a simple veggie soup. The combo plate had a dollop of mexican-esque rice, a ground beef taco, a bowl of chili con carne, and a beef enchilada. An interesting tomato-chili salsa accompanied the meal. None of this approached authentic Mexican, nor would you ever expect that. It was closer to mild- mannered Tex-Mex, but minus the layers of cheddar cheese and sour cream. Still, it was an enjoyable change of pace and fun to see the Japanese treatment of a cuisine so foreign to their own. Our favorite part is that the rice was garnished with a sprinkle of black fish roe. The meal comes with iced tea. Overall, not spectacular food but a good effort.
